DERMAL LIP FILLERS

Lip Dermal Filler Augmentation

Lip augmentation, also called lip fillers, lip enhancement or lip injections can temporarily or permanently improve the size and shape of your lips.

As you age your lips become thinner and less defined due to your body producing less protein collagen.

Lip augmentation can increase the fullness and enhance the definition of your lips to create a more desirable and youthful appearance and defined smile. It can also help turn the corners of the mouth upwards.

The treatment can be tailored to your needs providing a natural or fuller look.

There are many types of lip enhancer dermal fillers. The most frequently used lip fillers are hyaluronic acid fillers or gels such as Restylane. Hyaluronic acid is a natural substance found in your body so an allergic reaction is unlikely.

The amount of hyaluronic acid injected can be controlled, you can have the injections gradually over a series of appointments to achieve your desired look and, they break down naturally with results lasting up to six months. Following a lip augmentation, your lip area may be swollen, tender and red for a few days before it settles.

You will be able to continue with your everyday activities without the need for any downtime.

TEAR TROUGH DERMAL FILLER

Tear Trough

The interface between our lower eyelids and upper cheek is referred to as the tear trough area.

Tear trough hollowing is one of the earliest ageing changes and often is a constitutional feature present from adolescence.

As we get older, this area alters in appearance, by becoming hollower, darker, deeper and less revitalised. These depressions can make the eyes look somewhat sunken and create unattractive dark shadows, giving the appearance of tiredness, exhaustion and old age.

Tear trough filler treatment is a popular solution for tackling tired looking eyes.

It involves carefully injecting a gel-like substance into specific areas around the eyes, with the objective of softening deep wrinkles and lines.

Tear trough fillers are a non-surgical, minimally invasive treatment for ageing eyes.

It involves injecting the tear trough area with hyaluronic acid gel, which works to replace the lost volume brought about through the ageing process. It also hydrates, softens and rejuvenates the skin, creating a more youthful appearance.

The treatment only takes around 30 minutes.

As this is a minimally invasive procedure, most patients find that it is a lot less daunting than they first anticipated. A topical anaesthetic numbing cream will often be applied to the area before injecting the skin, thereby reducing the discomfort.

Recovery is usually rapid and treatment results are normally visible right away. Regular activities can resume immediately, with many patients going back to work on the same day. However, there may be some slight bruising or swelling for the first couple of days.

To reduce swelling, patients can gently apply a cold compress to the area every few hours so that heat and steam hits the face. An Arnica cream can also be generally applied to the tear trough area before bed, helping to reduce bruising overnight.

Patients should resist touching the area for at least six hours following

the filler treatment. After this time they can gently wash the area with water and soap.

Patients should avoid using make-up or other skincare products for at least the first four hours following the treatment.

They should also avoid exercise and alcohol for two days, and are advised to stay out of extreme heat (e.g. saunas, sun beds, tanning) or coldness for two weeks.

Unfortunately, the treatment is not a permanent solution, since the filler will gradually break down over time. There are several different factors which can contribute to the quicker break down of the filler results, including poor diet, smoking and lack of exercise.

Patients will need to come back to the clinic for repeat fillers in order to retain their youthful, fresh appearance. Normally this will be about every 1-2 years, depending on the individual, although some patients will retain fillers for many years.

You are advised to come back to the clinic for a check-up and to review your progress.

People who are pregnant or breast feeding will not be able to undergo facial fillers. Likewise, people with known allergies or hypersensitivity to fillers or similar medical substances will be turned away Risks are very rare and normally the only side effect is the bruising or swelling of the skin, which is mild and subsides quickly.

A consultation prior to treatment will outline potential risks and aftercare.

JAW CONTOURING DERMAL FILLER

Jaw Enhancement

Some people can have a sagging jawline which can be a sign of ageing. Others may genetically have an under formed or weak jawline which can greatly affect confidence.

A defined jawline is a very desirable look, and a strong jawline can be the most striking feature of a person’s appearance. Dermal filler can be used to stiffen the skin on a jawline and define the chin and jowl area, decreasing the weakness of an undesirable jawline.

Dermal filler to the jaw can also give a face lift effect by improving the definition.

Generally, there is no downtime after a filler injection. While each patient is different, most return to their normal activities right away.

There are very few reported side effects with these products, bruising being the most common as with any injections. This is commonly very minimal and can be covered effectively with make up.

Chin and Jawline filler can last from 6 – 24. This can depend on different factors including a fast metabolism.

CHEEK DERMAL DEFINITION

Cheek Dermal Filler

Over time the face loses fat, causing the cheeks to become flat and saggy, giving way to a sunken-in look.

Although some are born with naturally high cheekbones, achieving the look of sculpted cheeks can be accomplished through both nonsurgical and surgical treatments that focus on restoring plumpness, volume and definition.

What can be done? To restore volume to the midface and recreate youthful contours, we can use dermal fillers. Thick cross-linked hyaluronic acid injections can be placed directly above the cheekbones and moulded to define natural cheekbone structure. They can also lift areas lower down such as the nasolabial folds. Satisfaction among this procedure tends to be very high, and the fillers can last as long as 18 months.

How long does it take for dermal fillers to work? You can expect the results of the procedure to be visible immediately after having the treatment. If there is any swelling then this should take a couple of weeks to settle down.

Should I expect to feel any pain after having dermal fillers injected? Most patients won’t experience any pain after having dermal fillers. But some people may find they have a little bit of soreness and/or mild bruising at the injection sites.

If you do experience any pain, bruising or swelling then you can treat this with an ice pack to reduce swelling and redness. We will apply local anaesthetic cream to the area before the injections to help keep any pain during the procedure to a minimum. The filler also has some local anaesthetic which makes the procedure very comfortable.

How long is the recovery time after having dermal fillers? Some people experience mild bruising and swelling after the procedure. If this occurs you can expect the bruising and swelling to wear off in a week or two. After the procedure you can expect to have slight redness around the treated area, which will last a few hours.

CHIN DERMAL FILLER

A profile before and after of a woman who has received Chin Dermal Fillers

Chin Profile

Some people feel they have a disproportionately small chin in relation to the rest of the features of their face.

Dermal fillers can be injected into the chin to lengthen it to achieve the perfect proportion.

It can also move the chin forwards or downwards to create the perfect ratio between the nose, lips and chin.

Dermal fillers on the chin can also be used to fill wrinkles and folds making the appearance of the chin more aesthetically pleasing.

Genrally, there is no downtime after a filler injection.

While each patient is different, most return to their normal activities right away. There are very few reported side effects with these products, bruising being the most common as with any injections. This is commonly very minimal and can be covered effectively with make up.

NASOLABIAL FOLDS DERMAL FILLER

Nose to Mouth Nasolabial Dermal Filler

The lines that form from the nose to the mouth can be a particular problem for some people. Sometimes this is something that runs in the family. Smoking can also exacerbate the appearance of these lines due to the repeated pursing action in the mouth area.

The result of severe nose to mouth lines is to create quite deep creases which are very noticable. The shadow that forms here can give the impression of a droop or simply a distraction from the eyes and mouth.

The most effective non-surgical treatment for nose to mouth lines is hyaluronic acid dermal fillers like Juvederm.

Dermal fillers can be used to directly fill in the line. However, the most effective and most natural looking treatment is produced by replacing the lost midface volume through injecting dermal filler into the cheek area.

This lifts the skin upwards and smoothes the fold. For deeper lines, a combination of injecting filler into the midface and directly into the wrinkle will treat the nose to mouth lines whilst giving a natural appearance.

MARIONETTE SAD MOUTH LINES

Mouth to Chin lines- Marionette Dermal Filler

Marionette lines are the lines that start from the corners of the mouth, and run downwards towards the jaw.

They can worsen with ageing, weight loss, and sun exposure, which can leave you looking sad, unhappy, tired or angry all the time. Filler helps to restore the lost volume to give you a happier appearance.

Rejuvenation results from dermal filler in the crease lines from the mouth to the nose are seen instantly!

There may be a slightly "fuller" appearance immediately after injection of the filler due to natural swelling, which resolves after a few days.

How long does the marionette filler treatment last for? Filler in the lower mouth folds region can last 6 to 18 months.

Is it painful? No. You may feel a pinprick sensation as the skin near your mouth is injected. We can apply special numbing cream beforehand if you are worried about this. An advanced micro-cannula technique can also be used to help minimise any discomfort.

How long is recovery time? More or less immediate recovery — it can be performed in your lunch break! As a needle is used to inject dermal filler into the marionette lines, there is a chance you may get a small amount of bleeding/bruising, which usually resolves after a few days.
